How much weight should I gain during pregnancy?
Acceptable weight gain during pregnancy is not the same for all women, but it depends on body weight and more specifically on BMI. According to the American Institute of Medicine, women considered to be underweight, with a BMI of less than 18.5 kg / m2, should gain 12.5 to 18 kilos. Women with normal BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 kg / m2 should gain 11.5 and 16 kg, overweight women with a BMI of 25 to 29.9 kg / m2 should gain between 7 and 11.5 kg and the obese with BMI equal to or less than 30 kg / m2, 5 to 9 kg.
