Uterine endometrial polyps
The uterus consists mainly of muscle fibres. The cover of its internal surface, its cavity, is called endometrium and consists of a more sensitive and soft tissue. If the woman does not become pregnant, the endometrium falls with the period. However, after the period, under the influence of hormones, the endometrium is increased in volume. Polyps are areas where the endometrium grows slightly more. As they grow, they project from the surface of the endometrium but remain attached to it with a stem.
