Your first visit to the gynaecologist

To grow up means to be responsible, to care for your body and not to put your health at risk. The thought of the first visit to the gynaecologist may scare you a little, but if you know in advance what to expect, you will have less stress.

The first visit to the gynaecologist should be done before your first sexual intercourse and between 13 and 16 years of age. During your first visit you may only discuss with your doctor, so you get to know, what to expect in your next appointments and get answers to questions that may have arisen about the changes that happen to your body. You will be informed about the vaccine against certain HPV types and in case you are examined, your doctor may also perform an ultrasound to check your ovaries and uterus.
