What is menopause and what is the climacteric?

Menopause is the definitive discontinuation of menstruation. The years preceding menopause and during which symptoms appear are called climacteric. The climacteric is different for each woman. Others perceive minimal differences compared to before, and others have difficulty coping with the symptoms that accompany it.
